Gentle Leader (for dogs) — Friday Find

So yesterday my sister told me I sounded like an infomercial as I was extolling the virtues of the Gentle Leader Dog Collar, but the thing is, it really has improved my life. My 70 pound mutt doesn’t pull when I walk or run with her because of this simple device.

It looks like this:

Check out the pic below to see what it looks like on a dog. (No, this isn’t my dog. My dog is black. The collar is black. Trying to take a pic of the black-on-black was an exercise in frustration.)

As you can see, this is NOT a muzzle. My dog can pant/drink/eat/bark/bite while wearing it.

It’s only right that you know that it does take a little bit of training to get your dog accustomed to the collar, since they’ve probably never worn anything like it. It took my dog less than a week to accept it and we’ve been using it for about six months now.

So that’s my Friday Find. What’s making your life better/more enjoyable?

Casey — I just wish they’d make one for my smaller dog too! 🙂

  3. Doncha just love technology? Those things look awesome. I wish I’d had stuff like that when my two big dogs took me for a drag. (Then again I wish I still had dogs, so there’s that.)

B.E. — They ARE awesome. Getting dragged is, well…a drag. These are kind of like bridles for horses. “Whoa!”
