Reading, Watching, Eating 1-14-11

READING — This week I read Jason Pinter’s THE HUNTERS.

WATCHING — Finished watching the second season of FRINGE. It’s time to watch the new Doctor! Doctor Who? Yes, DOCTOR WHO!

LISTENING — This week I’m still listening to the audio version of Emma Donoghue’s ROOM. I’m halfway through, and while I can understand why a story told from the point of view of a five-year-old boy could be aggravating, I’m mesmerized by it.

EATING — I’m gaga (not in the Lady sense) over the Kashi Pumpkin Spicy Crunchy granola bars. They’re like the ultimate oatmeal cookie, imho. Also, I found Welsh Rarebit in the store! (this is a HUGE treat since I haven’t been able to find it for a couple years)

Oatmeal cookies and Welsh Rarebit were two of my favorite foods as a kid — have you had any childhood favorites lately?

What’s entertaining you this week?

Reading – ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, a YA sci-fi that’s getting rave reviews. So far I’m really liking it.

WATCHING – I LOVE Fringe! And Dr. Who! We’re in the midst of a season 2 re-watch of Who and finished the most recent one with the Christmas special (freaking amazing). We’re watching Friday Night Lights. The second season is a major disappointment, but we loved the first.

LISTENING – a big mix of music. I really enjoyed ROOM, though I’m not sure how I’d feel actually listening to the audiobook. His voice was fantastic, but also tedious at times for me.

EATING – nothing much special, though I think we’ll do some slow cooker brisket this weekend. I had to look up Welsh rarebit. Man, that sounds delicious.

Joann — I’m listening to ROOM while I walk, so it hasn’t gotten tedious so far, but I can see how it could.

    Who’s your favorite Doctor?

    When I was a kid I sooooo wanted a K-9…..

READING – still reading the political biography. Just about done. Then a whole world of choice awaits, though I might dig into a classic.

WATCHING – Toy Story 1, 2, and 3 in no particular order and in abundance.

LISTENING – to radio sometimes in morning or when in car.

EATING – Welsh Rarebit for the first time! Yummy!

Cyndi — You KNOW why I don’t like the Toy Story movies, right? 😉

A classic you’ve read before or a “new to you” classic?

      • Cyndi says:

New to me classic: The Count of Monte Cristo. We’ll see how it goes. Something else could capture my attention before I start reading it or even while I am reading it! Yes, oooh, pretty, shiny things to read steal me away very easily.

Cyndi — I suffer from that kind of distractability too
